Our new training center, at Catherine and 22d, is ready for the first Barista to train on the new LaMarzzocco GB5. Nate Gibney, Mugshots’ coffee boss, will come practice for Barista Certification.

It looks like probably 3 weeks from now till it is useable. So first week of July maybe, with a grand opening party sometime in August. Stay tuned for details.

Thanks to the New followers! We have had construction delays, and many of you know what that is all about. Our building is nearly complete and our space is ready to be outfitted with espresso machines and brewing devices.

An announcement of the grand opening ceremonies is going to come out soon, and if you are reading this, then you are invited. Look for a time in mid to late August and get your red solo cup out of the recycle bin.

Katie Carguilo flew from New York to Vienna last night, to represent us- all of us American Baristas- as our US champion and competitor in the World Barista Competition. Like many, my heart goes with her.

I first met Katie in 2005, when I was MCing the Southeast Regional Barista Competition….
